I was a little worried about "Unto the Locust" - how could Robb Flynn and the lads in Machine Head possibly follow "The Blackening" without fans seeing it as a band who had already peaked and were now on a downward slide? However, just like a new model from BMW, the new car has incredibly improved on the old model. Machine Head has produced an unmistakably MH CD, which matches the intensity of "The Blackening", and in my opinion demonstrates continued progress of the band as a unit. The trademark vocals (tinged with a demonic growl), complimented by masterful guitar riffs, which appear at times reckless in nature, all swathed in a wall of percussion, make this album relentless from start to finish. My only complaint - why only 7 tracks guys!?!
